I spent the last week with 15 high school and 7 college students at the Loras College Peace Institute, learning together about the myriad ways of creating peace in the world: Peace with Self, with Community, with Creation, and with the World. We heard from a diverse array of speakers and leaders about topics such as vulnerability, racial justice, and environmental justice. We learned and practiced nonviolent communication. We heard from speakers from four different religious traditions. And we built community with one another. I am looking forward to spending a week with family on the East Coast before I return home to our farm, where we grow food for ourselves, our guests, and area families.
